Sting gave a free concert in Saint Petersburg today. The show was held on the Palace Square (Dvorcovaja ploshad) and attracted more than 30 thousand music lovers from all over Russia.

One of the unusual things for Sting’s concerts was the fact that you could attend the show free of charge. Only 5000 VIP tickets were available for sale, the price of those varied between 3000 and 12000 rubles. The VIP sector was built close to the stage and had sitting accommodations.

The performance was held as part of the Sting’s world “Symphonicity” tour. The set included songs written by “The Police” and the ones that were composed by Sting alone. The trademark of the tour is that all songs are played in their symphonic arrangements.

The “Symphonicity” tour kicked off in 2010 and Sting already visited Moscow and Saint Petersburg with this program back in 2010, however the tour was such a great success that the producers have decided to prolong it for a little longer.
