CHARITY CONCERT OF THE JOSTIBAND ORCHESTRA – (SECUREDATING.COM)

A unique characteristic of the Jostiband orchestra is its musicians – people with special needs. It is the world’s largest band consisting of people with intellectual disabilities; many of them have Down syndrome. The funds, collected from this concert, will be donated to Ukrainian children with Down syndrome, specifically for the programmes of early development and learning. The concert is organized by the Ukrainian charity organisation Down Syndrome in association with the embassy of the Netherlands.

During the concert the Jostiband will perform compositions by Dutch composers as well as world-known symphonies. Also the members of the band will share their impressions about Ukraine and tell small secrets from their private life.

The performance will demonstrate the opportunities and creative potential of the pupils, whose intellectual abilities are different from the norm. Hopefully, it will also help to bend some stereotypes and force people to explore existential questions like what is true happiness, sincerity and harmony.

EXHIBITION VENUS SOVIETICA IN MOSCOW – (SECUREDATING.COM)

Soviet Venus

The main idea of the exhibition is the sublimation of eroticism, which was not allowed in Soviet times.

The images of the Amazons of the Revolution, that the exhibition is full of, got nothing to do with the graceful goddess of love and beauty. Even though the main topic of Soviet art was an athletic and working woman, that was just a cover for the natural desire of the artists to visualise the human body. Due to the dominant ideology of that time, they were forced to drape it into a socially appropriate image. Otherwise the works would never be shown to the general public.

At the exhibition you’ll see many faces of the Soviet Venus – from the absolutely asexual equal member of society to the soft and graceful female. What they all have in common – the women and the artists of that time – they had to fight for a woman to be not only the warrior, hero and a useful society member, but also a lady, muse and goddess.

We wish you a Happy New Year!

In Ukraine, Russia and other former Soviet countries New Year’s Eve is the biggest holiday of the year. This is the day when families and friends get together, kids are waiting impatiently to unpack their presents, Russian Women are preparing delicious dishes and the famous Olivier salad, fireworks are going off all day long with its pick at the stroke of midnight.

Traditionally, when the clock is about to turn midnight, everybody fills their glasses with champagne and makes sure to make as many wishes as possible before the New Year officially starts. It is believed that everything wished for during the last 30 seconds of the year will come true in the coming year.

If you still haven’t met your soul mate, make sure to picture her image in your head while holding your champagne glass.
