ART WITHOUT TABOO – UKRAINIAN EROTICISM – (SEUREDATING.COM)

Painting of Ukrainian Woman

This spring the gallery Art Collection in Kiev will show the exhibition that many Ukrainian women and men have been waiting for. The show of most confidential and spicy facet of creativity of Ukrainian artists – eroticism. Kiev has never seen such a concentration of temptation, secret desires and fantasies on the canvas, painted in bright colours.

During all times the eroticism was a powerful and often forbidden source of the artistic inspiration. This topic has always been one of the most intriguing in the society. The erotic art strips away all the veneer and exposes the most natural, direct and defenceless side of a personality. It shows beauty and love without decorations. Erotic paintings are the icons of love itself.

The exhibition focuses on female’s body perfect curves, tempting nude silhouettes. The audience will see the Ukrainian woman in her true eternal image – a mysterious and seductive goddess. “The female body has always been the subject for an artist, – says Ukrainian artist Krivolap – When you have such a powerful tool as colours, you find endless opportunities to materialize your own perception.”

Deyak, Ukrainian artist: “Through out the history of Ukrainian society the subject of physical love and sensual pleasures has been supressed, repressed and replaced. Even today you can still find prejudices and constrains in modern Ukrainian society. But despite the external restraint, Ukrainian ladies have very passionate souls and plenty of sensuality. This exhibition aims to awake the Ukrainian nation from the emotional winter, raise to the surface all the secret passion.”

Voloshyn, the director of Art Collection: “This is an unprecedented exhibition. There has never been anything like this in the artistic Kiev. Today, nude and erotic art works of the best Ukrainian artists have been gathered together. This is an experimental exhibition, since the theme of eroticism is still a taboo for Ukrainian girls and boys, despite the uninhibited views of the modern society. The art presented at the exhibition is made with extreme professionalism; it is absolutely perfect aesthetically. The censorship can’t be applied here.”

The artistic spring in Kiev, Ukraine, is going to be hot and passionate this year.

THE BASEBALLS JAMMING FOR RUSSIAN GIRLS – (SECUREDATING.COM)

The Baseballs in Russia

On the 16th of May in St. Petersburg’s club “Cosmonaut” a German cover band is going to be jamming for Russian girls and boys.

The history of the band starts in 2007 when three German guys – Sam, Basti and Digger – gathered in a Berlin studio to record cover versions of some hits from the 50s and 60s. There they found out that it’s much cooler to reproduce today’s pop hits in a rock ’n’ roll style.  That way the band came up with a unique style that made them incredibly popular all over Europe.

Their first album Strike came out in 2009 and took the leading positions in European music charts. The album became golden in Germany, platinum in Holland, Austria, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland, and triple-platinum in Finland. The musicians received numerous awards, including European Border Breakers Award 2011. Several months after receiving this award, the Baseballs released their second album String ’n’ Stripes that became very successful and loved by the public.

One might wonder what is the secret of the Baseballs’ popularity that makes them to stand out among many other cover artists. Well, their exquisite sound, original and easily recognisable style, and high professionalism are not the main ingredient of their popularity. The secret lies in the ultimate and genuine love for their work, their crazy and maddening rock ’n’ roll energy.

To enjoy a good evening full of rock ‘n’ roll music and beautiful pin-up Russian girls, visit the “Cosmonaut” this Thursday in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Soviet Postcard The Victory Day

The annual celebration of the Victory Day, dedicated to end of the Second World War in 1945, is traditionally held on the 9th of May. In every post soviet country this day is very important and a traditional Victory Parade is held in all major cities.

This year over 11 000 Russian women and men from military forces participated in the Victory Parade in Moscow, Russia. They were marching in formations across the Red Square, giving their salutes to the veterans of the Second World War. Over 100 pieces of military equipment crossed the Red Square after them. The Parade was concluded with air manoeuvres of 68 helicopters and airplanes of the Russian Air Force.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the Second World War veterans, representatives of different public organisations, and numerous international guests watched Parade from the main tribune.

ICONS – SCANDALOUS ART EXEBITION IN ST PETERSBURG, RUSSIA – (SECUREDATING.COM)

the holy trinity

Don’t miss the last week of scandalous exhibition ICONS, held in the art centre Tkachi in St. Petersburg, Russia. Thousands of Russian women and men have already visited the exhibition.

The project ICONS, developed by the museum of contemporary art PERMM, is a compilation of art works and sculpture compositions of 25 famous Russian artists, and is perceived as a joint art project. The main idea of the exhibition is to rethink the traditions of Christian icons.

Last summer the exhibition was brought to Krasnodar, Russia, where it was met with aggression: skinheads and other activists blocked the opening of the exhibition and attempted to beat up the exhibition’s curator. The exhibition was seen as a social threat and nobody discussed its artistic content.

It wasn’t easy to exhibit the project in St. Petersburg either. The first art gallery, after first willing to host the ICONS, then suddenly refused to do so. However the art centre Tkachi was brave enough to show the exhibition and many Russian ladies and men are grateful for that.

“The Russian icon is a masterpiece of the world’s culture, same as the Greek sculpture or Chinese calligraphy. An icon belongs to the church and to art as well. Today, when an artist is recreating some religious plot, most often he or she is not in a dialog with religious texts or religious traditions, but in the dialog with the colleague, a fellow artist, his or hers predecessor” – says Marat Guelman, the curator of the ICONS.

The ICONS is a great way to learn more about Russian contemporary art and the history of a Russian woman.

EASTER IN RUSSIA AND UKRAINE – PASKHA – (SECUREDATING.COM)

Ukrainian Girl with Easter Eggs

Easter is the biggest holiday for Orthodox Christians. Besides being a church celebration, it’s a celebration of spring and awakening of nature after a long Russian winter.

Orthodox Easter and Catholic Easter are celebrated on different days, due to following different calendars. Western Christianity is using the Gregorian calendar, and Eastern Christianity (like in Russia and Ukraine) bases the day of the holiday on the Julian calendar. However, Easter is always celebrated on Sunday in every Christian denomination.

This year the Orthodox Easter is celebrated on the 5th of May, and the preparations for the holiday have started some time ago all over Russia and Ukraine.

Some cities offer to visit numerous Easter fairs that will help you to grasp the richness of this cultural event and to buy presents and hand-made souvenirs. Many Russian women attend these fairs to buy traditional Easter supplies, and to enjoy the spirit of the holiday and spring.

From the 3rd to the 5th of May you can visit such a fair in Kiev, at the gallery M17. There you’ll get a chance to make your own hand-made Easter basket, learn to paint pisanki – Easter eggs, and to bake a kulich – traditional sweet Easter bread.

And on the 5th of May a concert will be held, performed by talented Ukrainian girls and boys.

Happy Easter!
